Ranolazine: Pathophysiologic effects vs older antianginals
- Late Na+ inhibitors provide additional flexibility to existing medical therapies.
- In contrast to older therapies, late Na+ inhibitors exert their effects independently of hemodynamic pathways.
- Other antianginal classes (inhibitors of Rho kinase, free fatty acid oxidation, and If current) may also be complementary to older therapies, but are investigational at present.
