IONA: Reduction in primary outcome
- The primary outcome rate was 15.5% in the placebo group and 13.1% in the nicorandil group, corresponding to a 17% relative risk reduction (hazard ratio, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.72-0.97; P = 0.014).
- There was a significant 21% relative risk reduction in CHD death, MI, or unstable angina (P = 0.028, data not shown).
- IONA provided the first evidence for reduction in clinical events with a novel antianginal in patients with stable angina.
