• New strategies for global risk reduction: Focus on lipids and blood pressure
This monograph, New strategies for global risk reduction: Focus on lipids and blood pressure,
is offered as part of a series of continuing medical education programs from the University of Florida College of Medicine. Co-editors are Carl J. Pepine, MD, University of Florida College of Medicine, Roger Blumenthal, MD, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Many patients seen in clinical practice have coexisting hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. Accumulating data also suggest the presence of pathways that interact synergistically to increase risk of cardiovascular disease. This monograph discusses these underlying mechanisms of cardiovascular risk as well as the clinical trials that provide clear evidence for the benefits of lipid lowering in patients with hypertension.
The contents of this monograph express the views of the individual contributors and do not necessarily reflect the views or recommendations of the University of Florida College of Medicine,
