• Diabetes and cardiovascular disease: The emerging role of the endothelium and implications for treatment
This monograph Diabetes and cardiovascular disease: The emerging role of the endothelium and implications for treatment.
features highlights of a Vascular Biology Working Group Special Adjunct Faculty Meeting presented at the American Diabetes Association 60th Scientific Sessions in San Antonio, Texas.
This CME monograph continues a series of educational programs from the University of Florida College of Medicine that have been developed with the goal of translating the advances in vascular biology to clinical practice.
The view of the faculty in this program is that coronary heart disease and diabetes are an interrelated problem of major proportions. Greater understanding of the ways in which diabetes affects the endothelium will promote the use of new approaches to management. These approaches employ therapies that enhance endothelial function to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and improve prognosis for patients with diabetes.
